Having trouble finding a good way to increase your muscle density and size? I’ve tried a lot of different ways to put on some size over the years, and below you will find my opinion as I lay out what I think are the top options you can choose from in the fitness marketplace. Choosing the right one can be difficult because each blend seems to work differently with each person depending on your body composition.
Below is a detailed comparison guide of my favorites along with a write up of each and my experience with it. Please keep in mind that all of these should be used sparingly and should be mostly used by someone that’s an ectomorph or someone that has a really hard time putting on weight. Using these when you are out of shape will only make you GET fat. If you are looking to add size, and are on the thinner side, then this is the right direction for you.
Who Stands To Benefit The Most?
· People that have a hard time putting on size

Now that you’ve looked at my guide showing the best options for you to put on size with reviews, let’s get a little deeper and dive into each and every brand I have here in my chart. You need to keep in mind that again, depending on your body type, you may or may not benefit more from one of these brands over another. I’m pretty much an ON addict because of both the quality and cost effectiveness, so let’s jump right in.
ON Serious Mass:
This is the ectomorph’s dream. 1250 Calories per serving and tons of other important strength and density increasing nutrients. It also contains Glutamine and Creatine. If you are looking for a great combination package than this is pretty much the best you can buy. Just make sure you are not overdoing it with your creatine intake by stacking a ton of creatine on top of taking ON. Same goes for glutamine. I’ve personally had great results with it and I think it’s one probably most effective options out there. While there are others I would definitely use in a pinch, this is my favorite.
ON Pro Complex:
This brand is highly effective for anyone that has a tendency to add a little more fat while trying to bulk up. Within one serving you lock down 650 calories and tons of size increasing elements packed into a very tight blend. If you are trying to add weight but want something that is higher in total ingredients while being lighter in calories than other brands, this is a great option. This different combination of nutrients (egg, whey, and casein) all do a great job of building lean muscle. Pro Complex by ON can be taken post workout and/or later in the evening.
Cytosport Monster Mass:
Cytosport has another “taste” winner in its line of popular workout products. This brand is a little pricier than many others in the marketplace, but it makes up for the price with outstanding taste and being a more easily mixable option. The consistency is smooth and similar to the Pro Complex by ON, it’s got a very nice blend with a great taste. With this brand, you can expect to get 600 calories, and a host of blended elements that will help you improve your overall build. There are also plenty of other vitamins packed into this option that help this qualify as one of my favorites on this list.
Universal Real Gains is a reasonably priced and is overall a pretty good buy. Unfortunately while it tastes pretty good, this brand falls short of Cytosport and the ON variety, but it makes up for it by making sure it’s priced in line with competitors. You can expect to get 602 Calories along with lots of other important qualities with the Chocolate Version. It also sits nicely with only 7 g’s of sugar. Not my personal favorite, but definitely a contender. It’s quite nice that it does come in a larger bag which can be better on storage.
BSN’s variation is probably my least favorite on this list just due to price. One bucket gets you about 16 servings, so expect to pony up to buy 2 of them to get you through a month. With 710 Calories, and a good balance of other ingredients, it sits right in the wheelhouse with the ON and Cytosport Brands. It does have 15 g’s of sugar as well, which might be an issue for those of you that are not ectomorphs. It’s still a quality choice, but I think that there is better value in any of these four we’ve already talked about in detail. BSN is quality and I do like BSN’s line of Pre Workout Options.
Now that we’ve covered what I feel are the best with detailed reviews, it’s up to you to get out there and figure out if it’s something worth adding to your diet plan. While there are other brands out there like the CB-1 , the options I’ve listed here in our review guide are the ones I would turn to first if I was looking to add some serious size. Any of these choices can be a highly effective tool to use when training for folks looking to add bulk and size in a short time frame. Obviously you need to make sure you are getting enough rest and you have a solid strength training routine, but filling the holes in your nutrient gaps will always be highly effective when effectively coupled with a great training regimen. Take a look at some of our Creatine Reviews, T-Boost Info and other muscle building options for more information on great brands that will help you get your ideal physique.
